In Lafka, at around 700 metres beneath the peaks of Mount Oligyrtos and southwest of Lake Stymphalia, the “Georgios Milios” Folklore Museum has been open since 1993. It was set up by the Brotherhood of Lafka Residents and is housed in a stone building that, in 1930, served for a time as the Magistrates’ Court of Stymphalia.
Its exhibits, donated by the villagers themselves, are arranged by theme: home life and food, costume, wedding customs, farming and herding, music and instruments, old trades and religious life. Admission is free by prior arrangement with the Brotherhood. It makes a lovely stop in a village known for its little stream and stone footbridges.
