The Kryoneri Cultural Association was founded in 1985, based in Kryoneri, Corinthia, originally under the name “Cultural and Educational Youth Association of Kryoneri.” Since its establishment, it has been a cornerstone of culture and tradition in the region, dedicated to safeguarding our cultural heritage and preserving our customs and traditions.
The Association is housed in the Youth Club (Leshchi Neon), which was renovated in 2003 to provide a modern environment for its activities. This space serves both as a meeting venue for the Board of Directors and as a lending library for members and local residents.
Since 1993, the Association has been organizing traditional dance classes at the village Polycenter, catering to all ages. The Association’s dance troupes participate annually in the “Two-Day Traditional Dance Festival” held during Kryoneri Cultural Week. Additionally, they perform at various cultural events throughout Corinthia and other parts of Greece.
The Association has proudly represented Greece in numerous countries, including the Czech Republic, Germany, Serbia, Italy, Hungary, and Belgium. A particularly prestigious moment was the participation of our dance troupe in the Athens 2004 Olympics, a unique experience that showcased Kryoneri and its cultural traditions on an international stage.
Cultural Week, held every year in mid-July, is the highlight of the Association’s annual calendar. It features a wide range of activities for all ages, such as:
Artistic Gymnastics
Shadow Theater (Karagiozis) and Clown shows
Film screenings
Music nights
The Two-Day Traditional Dance Festival
As part of its musical programming, the Association has hosted concerts by renowned Greek artists, including Nikos Papazoglou, Pyx Lax, Socratis Malamas, Dimitris Bassis, Manolis Lidakis, and many others. Furthermore, the Association supports all local events in collaboration with the Community, the Municipality, and other local organizations.
Since 1999, the Association has organized voluntary blood drives twice a year, strengthening social contribution and solidarity within the local community.
In addition to traditional dances, the Association offers classes in Taekwondo and Artistic Gymnastics, while in the past, it has also hosted modern dance and Karate lessons.
The Kryoneri Cultural Association remains a dynamic and active organization, contributing to the promotion of culture and tradition while fostering a spirit of social solidarity and cooperation. With an eye toward the future, it continues its mission to keep the cultural identity of Kryoneri alive.
