On the eastern outskirts of the plain of Pellini, at the foothills of Mount Vesiza and opposite the village of Kaisari, lies the Holy Monastery of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary, also known as Panagia Kaisariotissa. According to testimonies, it was built in 1800 and repaired in 1815 by the sole monk living under its roof, Anthimos. In 1920, the skilled craftsman Ioannis Vasileiou from Giannitsa crafted the iconostasis of the monastery’s church, and in 1952, with private donations, the monastery was repaired and expanded. Today, the monastery serves as an oasis in the plain of Kaisari, offering every visitor the opportunity to enjoy the tranquility of nature and the boundless beauty that divine providence and the diligent nuns maintain on the premises.
