Mati, also known as Gkioza, which means “eye” in Turkish, is a settlement located at 840 meters, on the northwest slopes of Mount Oligyrtos. Most of the inhabitants of this village are engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry, cultivating crops such as wheat, potatoes, beans, etc. The village was called Gkioza until 1928.
