Panagia tou Vrachou, Tarsos

At Kato Tarsos, wedged into a cleft of sheer cliffs that rise to some 1,040 metres, clings the tiny chapel of Panagia tou Vrachou, a little marvel rightly nicknamed the 'Meteora of the Peloponnese'. Legend tells that during the siege of the castle of Tarsos a mother carrying her baby fell from the rock and was miraculously saved, leaving icons in the crevice in thanksgiving. All around, streams and waterfalls make the setting enchanting, reached by a rough dirt track that only adds to the sense of discovery.
