Sikyonia
Located 6 km away from Kiato, at an altitude of 50 meters, is Diminio. It has about 600 inhabitants who are mainly engaged in agriculture. There are wineries in the village and many types of wines are produced. According to local tradition, the name is linked to “diminon”, a two-month wheat grown here during the Ottoman period: it was sown in spring and ready for harvest within two months. To the east of the village, the Selliandros river flows, and at its mouth, one of the most beautiful beaches of the Corinthian Gulf, Pikrangouria, is formed. Under Venetian rule, and in the first decades of the modern Greek state, this beach was a loading point for the Corinthian currant: warehouses stood here and ships moored to carry the “black gold” to the ports of the West.
