Archaeological Site of Feneos
The archaeological site of Ancient Feneos lies close to the village of the same name, on the northwestern edge of the Feneos plateau. It comprises the acropolis with its walls, an ancient spring and the Hellenistic Asklepieion, set within a striking mountain landscape at around 750 metres altitude. Excavations have uncovered important finds, including statues of Asclepius and Hygieia, testifying to the cult of healing that flourished in this ancient Arcadian city surrounded by dramatic peaks.
