Archaeological Site of Stymphalia
Beside the fabled Lake Stymphalia lie the remains of the ancient city, brought to light by the excavations of Anastasios Orlandos between 1924 and 1930. Visitors can make out traces of the agora, the foundations of a temple, a large square building thought to be a palaestra, along with a fountain and altars. Pausanias records a sanctuary of Artemis here, still to be firmly identified, while nearby survive vestiges of the Hadrianic aqueduct that once carried the region's water all the way to Corinth.
