The Folklore Museum of Lafka: mountain village life in a stone house
In Lafka, at about 700 metres below the peaks of Mount Oligyrtos and south-west of Lake Stymphalia, a small stone building keeps the memory of the village. It is the “Georgios Milios” Folklore Museum.
A museum made by the villagers
The museum has been open since 1993 and was created by the Brotherhood of the People of Lafka. It is housed in a stone building that in 1930 temporarily served as the magistrates’ court of Stymphalia. The exhibits were donated by the villagers themselves, which gives a very personal picture of life in a mountain village.

- music and musical instruments
- old trades
- religious life
The village
Lafka is built on a hillside, with stone-built neighbourhoods and century-old plane trees in the main square. It is known for its stream and little stone bridges, and there are hiking paths around the village. You will find more in our guide to Lafka.

- Entry is free, by arrangement with the Brotherhood of the People of Lafka. Arrange your visit before driving up.
